Our hospital offers laser therapy to promote healing and reduce pain in pets.
Laser therapy is one of the modern treatments adopted by veterinary medicine. This procedure is a form of alternative treatment to surgery and can be used along with or in place of medications to manage pain. Our team uses advanced technology to perform laser therapy on our patients.
Laser therapy in pets bears much similarity to that in humans. Lights are directed at specific parts of your pet’s body at different wavelengths. The light is absorbed by the cells which stimulates repair and growth. Laser beams at lower wavelengths are absorbed by the skin while higher beams penetrate muscles and bones. Each session may last from 15-30 minutes. Your veterinarian will determine how many sessions your pet will need.
Laser therapy is beneficial to treating pets limited to medical treatment options. For instance, older pets with poor organ function and pets with liver disease who cannot take medications. Here’s a list of conditions that our hospital uses laser therapy to treat:
The procedure is completely pain free. Your pet will be safe and comfortable during laser therapy. Your pets will wear protective glasses, just like our staff, to protect their eyes.
