From surgery to recovery, we put your pet's comfort and safety first.
At some point in your pet’s life they may need surgery, whether it be a simple spay or neuter or complex orthopedic procedure. Surgery can seem scary for pets but our team is well trained and has immense experience. At Southglen Veterinary Hospital from the moment your pet enters our hospital they are treated with the best care through the use of modern techniques and proper equipment. We will monitor your pet during surgery, provide intravenous fluids (IV) and guide them to a full recovery afterwards.
To ensure that surgery is safe for your pet we perform a routine blood screen test. Blood testing tells us if your pet will respond well to surgery and recover safely. The blood test shows us how well your pet’s liver and kidney function as well as the blood counts in your pet. It is necessary to know your pet’s kidney and liver function as they determine how much sedative and anesthesia is safe for your pet.
The surgeries our hospital offers include microchipping, spaying/neutering, dental procedures, removal of foreign objects, dental extractions and more. Please call us to learn more about our full range of surgical services.
Preparation for surgery is dependent on the procedure your cherished pet needs. There are general guidelines that you must follow. Your pet must completely fast 8 hours before surgery and your pet must be up-to-date with their vaccinations. Our team will inform you of any precautions or steps to follow prior to each surgery. Give us a call at 204-452-0077 for additional information.
