When should my cat or kitten be vaccinated?

Kittens should begin vaccinations when they are 6-8 weeks old and continue until they are 16 weeks old. At one-year-old, kittens need booster shots which come in series every 3 to 4 weeks. As adults, cats need to be vaccinated every year or three years depending on the vaccine and how long they last.

What should I expect when my cat is vaccinated?

It is very rare for cats and kittens to experience any side effects after receiving their vaccines. In the instances when cats have reactions, they are very mild. The effects may include loss of appetite, hives, vomiting, fever or diarrhea.

Do I need to vaccinate my indoor cat/kitten?

Yes! Staying inside does not mean your cat is immune to diseases. There are airborne germs that your pet can pick up and they can also contract illnesses from other pets within the household.
